This, from The Onion, I thought was particularly funny for all of those considering to upgrade…..

Microsoft released its new operating system, Vista, on Jan. 30. Here are some of its features:

  • Microsoft Word’s helpful paper-clip icon now blinks at rate of normal humans
  • Enhanced graphics on “System Is Not Responding” pop-up window
  • Five new card-back designs for Solitaire
  • Something that Apple would never, ever dream up in a billion years
  • Microsoft Vista Released
  • 4,391 security flaws to be patched over next 15 years
  • Promise of broad, open-minded future or some bullshit
  • Lists blocked wireless connections with greater speed and accuracy
  • New operating system, same old Microsoft Paint

How much of this is true? It all seems pretty amazing!

1. Men can read smaller print than women can; women can hear better.

2. It is impossible to lick your elbow.

3. Intelligent people have more zinc and copper in their hair.

4. Each king in a deck of playing cards represents a great king in history:

Spades – King David
Hearts – Charlemagne
Clubs – Alexander, the Great
Diamonds – Julius Caesar

5. 111,111,111 x 111,111,111 = 12,345,678,987,654,321

6. Question: If you were to spell out numbers, how far would you have to go until you would find the letter “A”?
Answer: One thousAnd

7. In Shakespeare’s time, mattresses were secured on bed frames by ropes. When you pulled on the ropes the mattress tightened, making the bed firmer to sleep on. Hence the phrase… “goodnight, sleep tight.”

8. It was the accepted practice in Babylon 4,000 years ago that for a month after the wedding, the bride’s father would supply his son-in-law with all the mead he could drink. Mead is a honey beer and because their calendar was lunar based, this period was called the honey month, which we know today as the honeymoon.

9. Believe it or not, you can read this…

I cdnuolt blveiee taht I cluod aulaclty uesdnatnrd waht I was rdgnieg. The phaonmneal pweor of the hmuan mnid aoccdrnig to rscheearch at Cmabrigde Uinervtisy, it deosn’t mttaer in waht oredr the ltteers in a wrod are, the olny iprmoatnt tihng is taht the frist and lsat ltteer be in the rghit pclae. Stephen Colbert v Congressman Lynn Westmoreland – 10 Commandments in Public Buildings Debate – Video December 24, 2006

Stephen Colbert interviews Congressman Lynn Westmoreland on his controversial bill to place the 10 Commandments in Judicial Buildings.  Unfortunately for the Congressman, when Colbert asks him to name the commandments, he can’t!  Guess this issue really wasn’t that close to his heart.  Which brings up another topic…. using religion to win political power in a country that very clearly mandates separation of church and state.  If you’re going to go the religious path, you’d better be religious!  Otherwise, you just end up looking like an idiot…. just like Congressman Lynn Westmoreland.

This is a must watch video for anyone who believes in the literal truth of the Bible. You need to realize that the stories are meant to guide and provide advice. More people have fought and died over the validity of this book than any other. It needs to stop, at all costs.  Nothing should be more precious than life (God’s greatest blessing…. for believers).

I think our country places far too much of an emphasis on this argument. We all need to grow up and realize that God and Science are not mutually exclusive concepts… they can both exist together. For a little comedy, here’s what the popular cartoon Family Guy has to say on the subject:

This is absolutely hilarious! Unfortunately, too close to the truth. Will Farrell impersonate George W. Bush in this video, and speaks to the issue of Global Warming.

This one is a little sillier.
