[UPDATE: The newest video, post execution can be found on Webmerica at this address.]
This video is RAW and EXTREMELY GRAPHIC. You will not see this on American TV. This video appears to have been shot from a different camera and does include Saddam Hussein’s death from hanging. The video appears to be unedited and certainly looks genuine when compared with the other previously released footage. You can tell you are watching the same event. Webmerica is bringing this to you in the interest of free press. Death is not something to be celebrated, for any cause.

UPDATE: This video is legitimate, CNN reported. No one knows who filmed it or whether the Iraqi government supports it. It may have been shot on a cell phone camera. That report with english translation is available here.

Other publicly released video:

What a ridiculous statement. You suggest that because you fail to recognize good vs. evil, that God does also?

You are an ignorant fool.

17. Dan - December 31, 2006

To address bluebilly:

There is not, nor will there ever be pornographic content on this site. We display and discuss newsworthy events, whatever happens to be the topic du jour.

The hanging of Saddam Hussein will go down in history as one of the most historically important events of the year 2006 (and indeed this entire century so far). So, if watching it is too much to for you to handle (it is very shocking)… don’t watch! But this site will not be removing any video.

18. Črt Gorup - December 31, 2006

Ok, Sadam is dead but what has changed? People who were killed under Sadam’s regime are still dead, around 50.000 Iraque people which were killed because military intervention are dead too. Maybe some people are happier now when Sadam is dead. In modern democracy(like EU) we do not hang people, not even if that would make other people feel happy. Death sentence is a sign of primitivism and barbarism.

USA and their president are very keen on recent execution, but we forgot that America is the one who attacked Iraq because of the oil. In Africa there are many more cruel dictators, but it seems that Bush can live with that. Did we forget Ruanda and Sudan? Why doesn’t USA attack Nord Korea? Maybe they can defend themself?

Personally I am very happy that I don’t have anything to do with the USA. I don’t hate Americans in fact I have meet some of them and they were mainly very nice. Unfortunately I haven’t ever meet any American who would supports Bush. I assume that only the lowest and less inteligent class of the American society supports him, I have never had any contact with that kind of people.

Disgusting video. Apparently you just needed some more readers. There is no point in capital punishment. Quote:

Amnesty International U.S.A. Director Larry Cox

“The rushed execution of Saddam Hussein is simply wrong. It signifies justice denied for countless victims who endured unspeakable suffering during his regime, and now have been denied their right to see justice served.”

27. Dan - December 31, 2006

I’ll post this here too, for Peter N. to read:

Anaj,

I respect your position. However, it should be noted that Saddam Husein was executed under Iraqi law, in Iraq, by Iraq. In the United States, capital punishment is an issue left up to each state to decide. Most have abolished it.

As for my personal opinion, you should read my other posts. “Death is not something to be celebrated for any cause” (directly quoting myself).

This post is what we call “freedom of speech” and is based on the principle that all humans are endowed with God given or natural rights, that no government should have the power to take away. Freedom of the press is guaranteed, and why I offer this video as an option for people to see. So is the right to “Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.”

Most of our country has come to the conclusion that this means the death penalty is wrong, as it obviously abridges upon an individual’s right to life.

Personally, I think the death penalty was too good for Saddam (and I assume this is what you mean as well). Spending the rest of his life in that ditch where we found him would’ve been much more appropriate punishment.

31. Matthew Reed - December 31, 2006

The death if Saddam is a symbolic gesture of the end of an era of the long-running battle between Middle East and Western Civilization.

I don’t necessarily agree with the method of his punishment, but I guess thats just the way things are done over there.

32. caractacus - December 31, 2006

Well, what was done could not have been done without US consent and even if it were otherwise, while they occupy Iraq, they’re going to get the blame for it right or wrong.

From where I sit, in the UK, the question I’m asking myself is “Was this what it was all for?”

So that a bunch of yelling fanatics wearing hoods and waving nooses could string up some old man?

Did we really go to war to install that bunch of hooded death squad goons in power and call them a ‘legitimate government’?

If so, God help us.

35. Cem Basman - January 1, 2007

Why are you doing this, Dan? This is nothing more than cheap fishing for clicks. This nothing to do with “the interest of free press” as you state in your post. This only craving for sensation.

36. Dan - January 1, 2007

Cem Basman,

I was worried that these posts would appear this way, however, I do believe that this material should be available for anyone to view. I wouldn’t have posted it at all if the news had reported the full event… but they didn’t. In this country, we tend to televise executions as a way of ensuring they occurred… why not Saddam’s?

I decided that I would rather present the uncensored information and be chastised for it then to restrict the broadcast in any way.

37. thecandytrail - January 1, 2007

What’s the issue?

Saddam is dead and the way he should not have been – martyred. Strangely, he was brave. YET so were he victims … let us no forget his many many many victims …. I was arrested by Saddam’s Military – in Rakyat – Kurdistan in Nov 1989, as a 23-year-old New-Zealand backpacker and accused of being an Iranian spy and a journalist reporting on the Kurdish massacres, and kept for 30 hours.

Yoy think crap – Check me on http://www.thecandytrail.com AND yes, glad he’s dead – arseholes deserve no justice – fuck the law, it’s blind.

Good for you to show this: THE NEW MEDIA IS BEYOND …

39. Brent - January 1, 2007

Hmm, to suggest Bush is next, is comparing Bush to Saddam Hussein.

The difference (if it isn’t totally obvious) is that Bush does not kill his own people with chemical weapons. Furthermore Bush was elected twice, whereas Saddam Hussein rose to power through blood and coups.

If am embarrassed for some of you, for the fact that you are so ignorant, and yet even have a voice for your opinions.

Everyone has their own opinions but facts are facts. Saddam=evil. It was the right thing to do, get over it.

Perhaps if you defend and/or ignore evil, you are evil yourself?

As far as Bush goes, there is a really huge difference between blatant evil and policies with which you or I should disagree. The bottom line is that you think that Bush and/or America is evil, and that is just plain laughable.

As far as the EU, they will talk trash until they are invaded by evil tyrants, then come crying to America for help (just like the rest of the world).

Get a clue.

To Crt Gorup:
You say the lower class, the less intelligent… Well, let me tell you something. I come from that lower class portion (so there, you’ve met someone of that kind) and let me be the first to tell you, I may be the lower class but I am and never will be of a lesser intelligence, and ‘HELL NO’, I’m one of the many that voted for Gore and Kerry. I am one of the many (the second election) that wanted Bush out of office. I may be 17 but I know what is right from wrong. I do support other countries saying that we shouldn’t be in Iraq now. That goes for most of America too. They killed us in the Trade Centers. We showed them we could fight back. But I do agree, it’s over. We are now killing around the same amount of own people as they did on 9/11. So do you get my drift. I am going to represent the lower class by saying, it’s not the Americans fought…don’t point your fingers at us…look at our f***ing congress and President. That is what I hate. When our President or government people decide on something, and the whole American society gets blamed. Realize something…talk to other Americans, I guarantee most will say they despise Bush, and would rather see him in hell rather than running our country. I have more to say, but not enough space to say it in. So coming from this lower, lesser intelligent, that you speak of ‘Crt Gorup’, I hope I cleared things up for you.

46. kr17 - January 2, 2007

I agree.

However you said:

I’m one of the many that voted for Gore and Kerry…I may be 17 but I know what is right from wrong.

I’m not sure what state you are voting in, but here in Illinois voters must be at least 18 years old. I’m pretty sure that also goes for the rest of the states.

You speak of lesser intelligence. Well, it ain’t your “fought“.

By the way, when you are old enough to vote, holler at me so we can discuss politics in a way which may be taken seriously.

As for me Bush is evil and his whole little group of people , Haliburton wanted to go to war to make money off of rebuilding iraq and they have been successful in achieving that , Saddam had not done anything in a long time against us that we should worry about. Stupid highschool kids should not have any say in a political website get out of here little boy

And yes, I’m aware of the electoral college. I’m pretty sure by your response that you have no clue how the electoral college works. And yes your vote does count. Oh, how utterly ignorant you are. And you’re suggesting that I’m ignorant? Please go learn about it.

In common with many reporters and presenters in the news media, you misuse the word ‘graphic’. Originally, people would say “the film contains graphic violence” meaning that the violence was not just hinted at (as in the old Hollywood code for universal-release films) but actually shown in pictures.

I do wish you could bring yourself to say “WARNING the film shows extreme violence” or something similar. We used to have a Daily Graphic newspaper. It had a lot of photographs. That is all. Get the idea? Cy Quick at mydigest.wordpress.com

Good, he’s dead, now nuke the rest of the countries over there! Their ruining this whole world!

59. Brent - March 20, 2007

Brian, you misspelled the word their (it’s they’re -a contraction for the two words, they and are), and also make those of us who support victory over there look bad. We won’t nuke that region. Besides, if we did we’d be paying $10.00/gallon for gasoline.

What’s truly silly about all of these anti-war people is their lack of knowledge in history. War is nothing new there, and they have fought in wars that spanned for centuries. This is what we face. They aren’t going to give up, but if we do, they will attack us here (again). The best thing for us to do is to establish democracies there. Freedom loving people tend to not be very tolerant of tyranny, radicalism, and terrorism.
